Play ON Stroud is a cultural event designed to bring professional theatre to Stroud for a weekend celebration of live performance. The annual festival will feature a variety of performances, including plays, children’s shows, discussions and workshops, offering a platform for distinctive voices and ensuring people of every age can experience exciting theatre in their local area.  Its long term aim is to build Stroud's reputation as a vibrant cultural hub, drawing visitors from across Gloucestershire and beyond.

Our Venues

Lansdown Hall and Gallery

Lansdown Hall and Gallery is a beautiful Grade 2 listed building built in 1879 as a temperance hall for the people of Stroud.

In 2011 Stroud Town Council purchased the building as a community venue for the town. Lansdown is run by a separate charity CIO providing a vibrant community hub for local artists, events, classes and workshops.

Cotswold Playhouse

The Cotswold Playhouse was bought by the Cotswold Players in 1957 and has been transformed over six decades into the theatre it is today. 

 

The Playhouse seats 150 in a fully raked auditorium providing all audience members with a clear view from a comfortable seat, and also features a fully licensed bar and theatre lounge.
